Pisano winery makes some of the top premium wines in Uruguay. The family originally came from Italy and set up in Uruguay in 1914 when they also started to plant vineyards and make family wines.
A century later, and the Pisanos are still making wine in Canelones as a family with winemakers, agronomists and administration covered between the brothers and nephews.
The Pisano family shares an Italian and Basque heritage, although their grape varieties extend to Torrontes, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, and Tannat, of course. The youngest generation of winemakers in the family, Gabriel Pisano, also has a fun range of sparkling wines, which includes a black sparkling Tannat.
