Narbona winery is inside its own idyllic world with a creamery, a bakery, a handsome hotel, two beautiful boutique hotels, a picturesque golf course, a private neighbourhood, a glistening harbour, three top restaurants and a couple shops accompany the 12 hectares of vines in the 100 hectare estate.
The resort is the vision of Argentine investor Eduardo Canton who fell in love with Carmelo and figured lots of other vacationing Argentines would too, so he created a real estate project and small touristic village as well as making wine to keep everyone there merry. The wine has become a more serious endeavour though as winemaker Valeria Chiola navigates her way through the five varieties planted on calcarious soils just a kilometer from the river.
A tasting in the beautiful boutique winery usually takes place in one of the cellars: either the atmospheric century-old one, or the modern one which was built to replicate the historical winery. Some triumphs are their grippy Tannat and fresh Sauvignon Blanc. Keep tasting over dinner at the top restaurant just a short walk from the winery.
