Tasting the stars of Uco Valley

The Uco Valley is undoubtedly the star of Argentina’s wine scene, and this intimate wine tour takes in some of the most renowned and exclusive winemaking projects in the valley. Visit three highly-prized wineries where you will taste the styles that are defining the future of Argentina, and finish the day with a delicious lunch at a boutique winery with the owners.

An hour out of Mendoza city, the Uco Valley is a haven for wine production – with cool altitude conditions from the towering Andes mountains, a rural oasis far from the city, and a mushrooming of international investment that has pushed the profile of this new region to become the best in Argentina.

Bodega Monteviejo in Vista FloresThis full day experience will take you to one of the original foreign investments in the area, Clos de los 7, where a collection of French investors were invited personally by flying winemaker Michel Rolland to invest in a New World adventure. Visiting two of the wineries in this special estate in Vista Flores, you will taste through a collection of wines from the different producers including top wines by winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti – the only South American winemaker to have ever received a perfect 100 point score with Robert Parker.

A taste of the MichelinisThen we will head to a new passion project from Argentina’s antihero of wine, Matias Michelini. Defining the new style of Argentine wine, Michelini and his fellow winemaking brothers have pioneered a fresh approach to wine in the region. This unconventional visit to their small, family winery, gives you the chance to taste through  the collection and learn about biodynamic production. You shall taste wines from the barrel, the tank and the egg!

The last stop is Finca Blousson, a bespoke winery and restaurant tucked up at the foothills of the Andes where the owners will welcome you to their home and passion. Making a very limited production of red blends with the high-quality fruit from their vineyard, Patrick and Victoria have one of the most privileged locations in the valley. As you enjoy a four course lunch made with all local ingredients – many from their own garden – you can take pleasure in a sweeping view of the entire Uco Valley and even catch a glimpse of their saffron garden which fills with butterflies in Autumn. Perfectly paired wines from their own small production and a small collection of local producers will finish off your Uco experience and give you a lingering taste of why the Uco Valley is hard to leave, and impossible to forget.
