Take a gastronomic adventure through the colourful city of Valparaiso with one of the best cuisine connoisseurs in the region. Throughout the experience you will be learning about different characters and stories of Chilean culture and recipes, while swirling wine and taking in unique vantage points of the city.
In the morning, you’ll meet your chef guide, Gabriel Barahona, an aficionado of Chilean cuisine and consultant chef for top restaurants in the region. Gabriel will introduce you to the city and Chile’s food culture while walking through a picturesque circuit of the city. Your first stop is ‘The Writer’, so called because it has been the home of many writers who were inspired by the beautiful sea view that you will enjoy here while you sample your first delicacy – typical Chilean sweet treats paired with sparkling wine.
The next stop is Abuelita (little grandma), so named for the fabulous graffiti mural adorning its outside walls. You can appreciate some more of Valparaiso’s colourful graffiti from the next terrace with its panoramic view, where you will taste Chile’s fresh fish delicacy – ceviche – paired with coastal white wine. Prepared before your eyes in a cooking demonstration, Gabriel will explain the process for ceviche and all the nuances of the national dish.
Moving onto the final foodie destination, you will be led to a surprising spot: a restored historical building that has theatrical touches and a stunning rooftop. This is our final destination with a cooking class, making traditional, spicy Chilean empanadas. This is paired with red wine, and you’ll finish with dessert.
